Jordon Knicley

Store Owner

Jordon Knicley is the owner of Urban Violet Boutique with locations in both Urbana and Hagerstown, Maryland. She is also co-owner, alongside her mother, of Sagittarius Salon and Spa in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Jordon has always been very creative and artistic, and graduates from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a degree in graphic design and business.

After graduating college, Jordon moved to NYC where she worked for ABC and CNN as a Television Graphic Designer. “New York really opened my eyes to fashion, trends, interior design, and all the beautiful things.”

Jordon loved and admired designer trends, but living in NYC on a budget, she had to figure out how to make the same statement with stores such as ZARA, H&M and various thrift/discount shops throughout the city.

After moving back to Maryland, she became partners in the salon but it really wasn’t her passion. “I decided to turn our nail area into a small woman’s clothing and accessories boutique. It was very successful and I finally found my passion and some things I was really good at; remodeling, interior design, merchandising, and bringing affordable beautiful items to the area.”

Living in small town, you don’t find your typical designer or department stores you would in a big city. Her skill of finding affordable but trendy items came in very handy when researching merchandise for the boutique.

After recently remodeling the boutique at Sagittarius, now Urban Violet at Sagittarius, it reminded her of how much she truly loves creating and building a brand.

“I looked for a space in downtown Frederick but nothing was really speaking to me. My brother and sister in law live in Urbana and they brought it to my attention that area needed a boutique offering clothing, accessories, gifts and home furnishings.”

Urban Violet Boutique in Urbana was opened in October 2019.
